Everyone enjoys going on a road trip – cruising on the road, having the freedom to go wherever and
whenever you want. Going on a road trip with good music, snacks, and a rough idea of where to go
feels like looking for adventure and freedom. In this list, we are thinking about long road trips
that cover a lot of distance. Get a bag, a map, and some friends, and go to watch the sunset.
1. London to Cape Town
This is a well-known challenge, and many brave people have completed it. One of the longest trips
from the north to the south of the world was completed in 13 days, 8 hours, and 48 minutes. This was
done as part of a promotion for the new Ford Cortina. This team won the competition 18 minutes
faster than the previous champions. If you want to really see all the amazing sights, it will
probably take at least a month to complete this trip across two continents.
People can take the Eurostar to Calais and then drive through the countryside of France and Spain.
They can also take a ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar to get to Africa. For people who manage to
get through the tough Saharan Desert, there are beautiful drives through many National Parks. You
can see monkeys and other animals in the rainforest reserve of Dja Faunal in Cameroon, and lions and
elephants in Etosha National Park in Namibia.

2. Europe to Ulaanbaatar
Many years ago, nomads traveled across central Asia looking for new lands and new things to do. Now
you can travel the same path as them, going through Eastern Europe and into Turkey. As you go across
the Istanbul bridge, you can see Europe changing into Asia. Christian churches become old and fall
apart as Islamic minarets tower over them, and the wide open countryside around Lake Van stretches
out before you.
Lately, people who like adventure have turned this trip into a challenge called the Mongol Rally.
Every year, people join a race by purchasing an old car and driving it from Europe to Mongolia.
Usually, people share their progress or problems on social media while taking part in this
challenge. The challenge is meant to be filled with disasters, giving people the chance to do
foolish things on a worldwide level and have surprising experiences. If you're interested, join the
Mongol Rally 2022 and start searching for a cheap vehicle.

3. Pan-American Highway
Have you ever taken a road trip across the US. How about going even further. This huge road trip
goes through most of the Americas, from Alaska to Colombia, Peru, and Chile. The only place where
you can't drive between Panama and Colombia is the Darien Gap. It's a big area with no roads. This
means you can't drive from North America to South America. Many people have tried to make a road
through the rainforest, but it's too thick and has too many diseases. Plus, it's important to
protect the people who live there. So, no road has ever been built.
The only choice, besides taking a very difficult 5-day ferry ride, is to fly. Once you reach
Medellin or Bogota, you can continue your journey south without any problems. If you drive from
Prudhoe Bay in Alaska to Panama City, and then from Medellin in Colombia to Quellon in Chile, the
road trip will cover a total of 23,662km (14,703 miles). If you drive for 8 hours every day, it
would take you a month to complete this trip. Those who have done it can take anywhere from 2 months
to 2 years.

4. Trans-Eurasian Belt
Our last route on this list has not been made yet. It is a made-up driving route that goes from
London to Ulaanbaatar, following the same path as the Mongol Rally. But after reaching Mongolia, it
continues to travel through the far eastern part of Siberia and crosses the Bering Strait to reach
Alaska. From there, you can go anywhere in the Americas, even all the way to South America. This
trip can't happen because the Bering Strait is not connected yet. However, people are making plans
for a big project called the Trans-Eurasian Belt Development. They may build a bridge that connects
the world.
Who knows what kind of impact a bridge connecting East and West will have on trade and how people
see those regions. All we know is that it sounds like an amazing adventure.
If you're going on a road trip through many countries, make sure you have the right car insurance in
case something goes wrong.
